Description
The Gould Tennessee takes one of the simplest electric-guitar recipes around and sensibly leaves it that way.
Finished here in Metallic Blue, it has the familiar single-cut T-style body, maple neck and maple fingerboard, with chrome hardware keeping the whole thing pleasantly traditional. The metallic finish gives it just enough flash to stop it looking like another anonymous budget guitar.
Electrics consist of two single-coil pickups, a three-way selector, master volume and master tone. No switches requiring an instruction manual and no attempt to reinvent anything — pick a pickup, turn it up and play.
Construction is equally straightforward, with a lightweight poplar body and bolt-on maple neck, while the 648 mm / 25.5-inch scale gives it conventional full-size electric-guitar dimensions. Chrome die-cast machine heads complete the package.
This is an entry-level guitar and we’re quite happy to let it be one. It gives a new player a proper full-size electric with a familiar layout, and it’s inexpensive enough to make sense as a spare or knock-about guitar for somebody who already owns rather more expensive toys.
And Metallic Blue is considerably more cheerful than buying yet another black beginner guitar.
